Nightshine Islands - A Fantasy Podcast

Okay everyone, here we go. The last chapter of July 2008.

Again, I will not leave you guys hanging if it can be helped. July 15 is going to be rough, but I want to have something for you every Tuesday while I pull the end of the story together the way it should be, and take care of the kids.

A new character comes on board - literally. Get your first glimpse of Captain Blaine. Her story will be told more after Book One has finished, so enjoy the ride for the next few episodes.

Thad and Celia are preparing to deal with the news they received at the end of Chapter 6. If you have not listened yet then please at least catch up with the last five minutes or so of last week’s episode.

Kranack also gets to peek out from the shadows tonight.

Hello again! It has been one wild week.

The new episode is up, on time. I have been planning the last two minutes of this chapter since first sitting down to write Chapter one. Hopefully, this turn of events will go over well.

Next, it had been a goal since day one to include an occasional video blog / Q&A for this podcast. Please take a look and, if you would like, fire off a question or suggestion for the next video.

Dinner for Four.

We officially meet Kranack in tonight’s episode. The little lizard man is back and now a member of the growing cast.

The character Trip also appears tonight.

A full half of the chapter is still dedicated to Celia and Thad. As the story progresses, the full cast will start to share the time. This is, to a large degree, the story of these two characters.

If you have not done so, please see the new Wiki. Whenever possible, I will update it with new entries. For the time being, they will focus on the main characters and the geography of the region.

Technically, I tweaked the sound tonight just a little bit, and added a bumper to the end of the podcast.

This was an interesting chapter to record. First of all, there are four references to my brother in today’s podcast. Two are obvious. Two have to do with the band he and our oldest mutual friend started together. These are for fun, and there are a lot of other references to a number of my influences already scattered about.

The passing of Robert Asprin came as a blow. As I first planned this podcast, his Myth Adventures series stood out as the ideal length or relative word count of each “Book” to be written. Although the flavors are very different, I am a huge fan of the Myth Adventure series. My wife holds a similar love for his work on Thieves’ World.

I am also in the midst of an experiment with healthy eating. More on that next week.

Finally, my apologies for using this blog as a personal sounding board. Two of my favorite podcasts, Escape Pod and Come, Let Me Whisper, spend a great deal of time before and after each story letting the author be informal. I am looking at options that would allow that as well but, to be very honest, would prefer the podcast to remain strictly about the story.
